At the Table with Saints
I Banchi, a bakery with a kitchen, is a place of humble and elegant cuisine, offering four menus named after Saints.
The St Paul menu focuses on meat, St Joseph’s vegetarian, and the U’Gioia menu (named after the Risen Christ in Scicli town) is based on fish. All dishes are meant to be shared and served simultaneously, as in Sicilian houses, followed by dessert.
The fourth menu, dedicated to the saint of the Cathedral of Ibla, St George, is instead a classic tasting menu that includes an aperitif on arrival, a starter, two pasta dishes, a middle course, a main course, pre-dessert and dessert.
The St Paul, St Joseph’s, and U Gioia menus are 25 euros per person, while the St George tasting menu is 50 euros per person.
